Mouth,jowels

Asked: 16th 2025 By: Jeanette

Hi,The area around the corners of my mouth seem to sag. I’m not sure if this would be Botox of fillers applied to the cheek area to bring up the sag. Can you please advise and the cost implications please.

Answer: As we age or after weight loss or illness we can lose natural volume in the middle of the face and cheek.

The overlying skin loses it’s natural “cushion” of plumpness resulting in a downturn of the mouth or appearance of nose to mouth lines.

Dermal fillers can restore the natural fullness without distorting your appearance and “lift” that sad looking downturn.

Our highly qualified and experienced medical practitioner Michelle specialises in the restoring your natural good looks safely and comfortably.

Answer: Hi Jeanette,

Thank you so much for your question regarding your concerns for the mouth and jowl areas.

Yes, it’s possible that Botox or fillers could help, but I’d need to assess you in person first. A consultation will allow me to determine exactly which treatment(s) would be beneficial for good results in that area.

The charge for an in-person consultation is £100, which is deductible from the cost of a treatment.

If you’d like to book in, please visit our profile and contact us there.

Thank you so much again for out.

Answer: The effect to rectify this with Botox is subtle so it completely depends on the person and the extent to which it sags. Botox will only help muscular sagging but if the tissue is lax then possibly filler (which I don’t do) may help but to give an answer without seeing you is difficult. My starting rate is £185 but if you want to see me for a consultation then that’s free(which I really don’t mind doing by the way)

Answer: Hi Jeanette,

Thank you for your enquiry.

The lines from the side of your nose to the corners of your mouth are called nasolabial folds, and those from the corners of the mouth to the chin are known as marionette lines. The sagging in these areas is mainly due to loss of volume in the upper and mid-faceparticularly around the temples and cheeks.

Botox, being a muscle relaxant, is not for sagging in the lower face.

I always recommend coming in for a proper assessment and discussion of treatment options before making any decisions. Answer: Hi Jeanette,

There are a number of ways to treat jowls, but without a assessment it’s difficult to say which approach would work best for you.

Botox can sometimes be used in the DAO muscle (the muscle that pulls down the corners of the mouth) — this treatment costs £190. Often, adding filler to the cheeks or jawline can help to lift and the lower face, with prices starting from £325.

Other excellent options include Morpheus8, which tightens the skin and can reduce small fat deposits (great for lower-face sagging), and Sculptra, which helps to rebuild collagen for a firmer, more defined jawline over time.

The best next step would be to book a free face-to-face consultation, so I can assess your facial structure in person and advise on the most suitable treatment plan for you. Please contact me via my profile if you wish to book.

Warm regards,

Dr Hazel Parkinson

Answer: Dear Jeanette

Thank you for reaching out.

There are many solutions we can offer, however it all depends on the level of the skin laxity, your expectations and the cost is also material and method dependent.

It is not possible to give you an estimate without seeing you (face to face or video consultation) and would encourage you therefore to book a consultation in the first instance to discuss your options.

Answer: Hello Jeanette,

Thank you for your query.

Jowls and sagging skin occur as we get older, due to 3 main factors:

1) Depletion of collagen in the skin. Collagen is the main structural protein in the skin, and is also responsible for skin resilience and elasticity. Reduced collagen results in sagging, droopy skin. Treatments which can collagen production include injectable skin boosters and microneedling.

2) Volume loss in the cheeks and middle of the face. Loss of fat and bone structure across the middle and lower parts of the face result in drooping skin. Treatments to replace lost volume include dermal fillers.

3) of some facial muscles. This over activity results in the skin being pulled downwards, creating sagging jowls and a downward turned mouth. Treatments which can reduce the activity of these muscles include anti-wrinkle injections such as Botox.

Most people would benefit from a personalised combination of all the above treatments, as the causes of sagging skin and jowls are multi-factorial. I always advise that skincare and supplement products are also optimised to ensure that they can help support treatment results. It is difficult to speculate on a price for this type of treatment plan as it varies from person to person, but typically people would expect to pay around £1500 to £2500 for a plan involving all of these treatments. A consultation is a great place to start exploring your options. I offer a no-obligation consultation at my clinic in Rainham, Kent. You can book a consultation via the link in my clinic bio (TD Aesthetics).

I look forward to hearing from you.

Warm regards

Answer: Thanks so much for your enquiry about the lower face region and what can be done to help. I would always suggest that filler is a far superior option than Botox and would last much longer. Depending upon the presentation my quality Teoxane filler is £325 for 1ml and you may require approx 3mls.

At Finesse Skin Clinic I would always recommend a face to face consultation to discuss your requirements. This is beneficial and will enable you to see the clinic and its clean professional treatment environment and of course to meet your practitioner.

How does this sound to you?
