Immediately following your dermal filler treatment you may experience some redness, bruising, swelling, or tenderness. This is a normal and is a result of the injections, it will disappear within a few days. Swelling after dermal filler treatment can last for up to 7 days.

Bruising after dermal filler is often associated with poor technique but this is not always the case. Bruising is very common after the use of a needle or cannula. Your own predisposition to bleeding will determine how much bruising you should expect to see following treatment.

To help patients avoid bruising we advise that any medications containing NSAIDs, aspirin, vitamin E, and ginseng are avoided in the week before dermal filler treatment. We also advise that these medications are also not used in the week following treatment.

It is also best to avoid:

Arnica cream can be used following treatment to help soothe and calm the skin.

All dermal filler patients are offered a review appointment 2 weeks following their treatment date. Our expert aesthetic nurses or doctors will examine the area, and together, you’ll be able to discuss the final results. This includes deciding whether you’d like any adjustments to the existing filler placement to be made or further volume which may require additional dermal filler treatment.
